Contact Us
We are still a relatively new organisation and as word gets out about our service, we have experienced a (very welcome!) increase in demand beyond our expectations. We are working hard to respond to enquiries quickly and to keep waiting times low. We are growing our team, and while we do this, we might take a tiny bit longer to get back to your enquiry – please do bear with us.
We are incredibly grateful for your interest in CARE ADHD.
Frequently Asked Questions
We find that many of our enquiries are similar, so we have put together a list of frequently asked questions below. Please do have a read before e-mailing or calling in case the answer to your question is here. If you still dont find the answer you need please find our email and phone number below.
Why are your prices so much cheaper than others?
We like to say ‘more affordable’! Our Managing Director and Founder was originally a Director from the NHS, as part of his role in running Mental Health Service across Suffolk and then South East London it was his job to commission private providers to help clear some of the backlogs. When he came round to commissioning private providers he was upset when discovered how much people were charging for ADHD assessments.
Put simply – we know that by having a lower price, we can be accessible to more people who we know need help. We also dont need to make margins of £800+ profit which many providers charge. We try as much as possible to set our prices to cover our considerable regulatory and operational costs – and yes of course to make a small bit of profit to enable us to keep investing in the clinic to grow to meet the high demand.
We are CQC registered, and we follow NICE guidelines so when you book in with us you get the same formal diagnosis and the same pathway as if you were getting assessed through the NHS or on Harley street in London. In fact we are very confident that our training and clinical standards are as high as anywhere you will find on the NHS or private sector.
I have submitted my pre-assessment forms, what next?
Please contact enquiries@careadhd.co.uk to let the team know you have completed your pre-assessment questionnaires. They will check all have been received, and if they have we will contact you to book in the appointment (60-90 mins) for your formal diagnostic assessment.
Why do I have to do pre-assessment questionnaires?
In short – because our clinicians have very high and rigorous standards! The forms provide a lot of evidence to enable a thorough assessment of your symptoms and impairments. Your clinician will review the forms carefully before your assessment, which will be a full psychiatric biopsychosocial assessment, as well as a focus on ADHD. By doing some of the forms in advance, it means we dont have to do extremely long appointments via video conferencing – which many clients have told us they find challenging. It also enables us to keep our prices and waiting times low.
Please do take your time to complete the forms, and our team is here to support you if you need help.
Ps – we are working on some exciting technological solutions to make the pre-assessment a very smooth user interface, which we hope to be in place by late September 2024.
I have paid online - what happens now?
Can I get medication with you if I have been diagnosed somewhere else?
- Register on Our Website: Please visit www.careadhd.co.uk, click on the ‘Client’ button, and complete the registration process.
- Provide the Following Documents:
Do you do children's assessments?
Currently, our ADHD assessments are offered only for individuals aged 18 and over. We want to expand in future as we know how many children need support at a low cost. However, we need to make sure that our clinic grows safely and carefully. Please keep an eye on our website for updates.
Do I have to have treatment with you?
Not at all! You’re welcome to have just the assessment with us. There’s no obligation to continue with treatment, and we’ll never pressure you into anything more.
Please feel free to choose the option that works best for you.
Do you do shared care?
Yes, we do offer Shared Care with your GP. Before proceeding, we recommend confirming with your GP that they are willing to take on Shared Care. This will ensure a smooth process as you move forward. It should be noted that in our experience, most GPs accept shared but a minority choose not to do so.
As part of the Shared Care agreement, after the initial 12-week medication titration with us, your GP will begin prescribing your medication, which is more cost-effective for you. We will continue to provide annual reviews at a cost of £140.
How do I book in with you?
How quickly can I get an assessment?
The timing of your assessment depends on how quickly we receive your completed questionnaires. Once we have your questionnaires, we will book you in as quickly as possible. This is an average of 10-14 days. As at 2 September, the waiting time is 3-4 weeks, but we are expanding clinical capacity in order to reduce this again.
Our waiting times are considerably lower than the NHS and most private providers and we will work hard to keep it this way!
Why do I have to have an adult 'informant' questionnaire done?
We understand some people wish to keep the process confidential, and others might find it harder to get people to complete forms about them.
The reason we request an informant – someone who knows you well, such as a partner, family member, or close friend – to complete this questionnaire is to ensure we gather the most accurate and comprehensive information possible.
-
Comprehensive Perspective: The informant can provide additional insights into your behaviours and symptoms that you might not notice yourself. This helps us create a well-rounded and accurate assessment.
-
Consistency of Symptoms: For a diagnosis to be accurate, it’s important to determine if your symptoms are consistent across different settings and situations. An informant can confirm whether the behaviours and symptoms are observed in various contexts, which is crucial for a proper diagnosis.
-
Historical Context: Informants can provide valuable historical information about your behaviour, helping us understand how long certain symptoms have been present and their impact over time.
-
Holistic Understanding: An informant’s perspective helps us understand how your symptoms affect your daily life and interactions, which is vital for developing an effective treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Is a diagnosis with CARE ADHD officially recognised?
As a CQC registered organisation, we are registered to assess and treat disease, disorder, or injury, so any diagnosis we provide is formal.
When individuals say ‘will the NHS/GP recognise the diagnosis’ they are often referring to whether or not the GP will accept shared care. We are proud of the partnerships that we have created with Primary Care and we will continue to make every attempt to continue to add to these partnerships.
Unfortunately some GPs do not want to share the care of some individuals (although most do in our experience). We would always recommend that you speak to your GP first and if they are happy then so are we.
Are your consultations online?
All of our assessments and clinics are conducted online via Microsoft Teams, allowing you to participate from the comfort of your own home.
As we expand we may look to develop some face to face clinics soon.
Do you do payment plans?
We do accept both Klarna and Clear pay so you are able to spread the costs out over 3 or 4 instalments.
Are you on Right to Choose?
We’re not currently on the Right to Choose menu and therefore cannot accept NHS Right to Choose referrals at this time. However, we would be pleased to offer you an assessment as a private client.
The cost for a private assessment is £269, and we can schedule your assessment, usually within 2-3 weeks receiving your completed paperwork (usually less than this). We also accept Klarna and Clearpay, allowing you to spread the cost if that is more convenient for you.
Do you do Autism assessments?
At present, we can only provide a formal diagnosis of ADHD through our assessments. However, we do recognise that some symptoms may overlap with those of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). If we identify such symptoms during your assessment, we will inform you, and you can then seek a diagnosis from a specialised provider for ASD.
Can I transfer my care to CARE ADHD if I have been diagnosed elsewhere?
Yes, transferring your care to us is straightforward. We just need a copy of your ADHD report and your Summary Care Record. Once we receive these documents, our Clinical Care Hub will review them to ensure it’s safe to proceed.
Do I get charged if I miss my appointment?
As set out in our terms and conditions, there is a charge even if you miss your appointment. We would love not to have to do this, but we hope you will understand that our admin and clinical teams put in a lot of prep work for your appointment and this costs us more than you might expect! We still have to pay our clinical team whether you attend or not.
In a climate with such high demand, we really want to keep missed appointments to a minimum with so many thousands of people waiting for an assessment, it also means your slot could have been offered to someone else (including if we have to rebook you).
